PROGRAMME MODULES

 

Trimester 1 (Autumn) - 16th September 2024 to 10th January 2025 (TBC) including assessments and 2 week break over Christmas
 
Trimester 2 (Spring) - 20th January to 16th May (TBC) including assessments and 2 week break over Easter

Undergraduate Exchanges

Applications are welcome from students registered at any of NCAD's Erasmus or bi-lateral partners. Students should check with their home institution to see if there is an agreement in place. Undergratuate students may apply for an exchange during either the Autumn or the Spring Trimester and if accepted will generally attend year 2 or 3 of the four-year Honours undergraduate degree programme. Students should be nominated first through the Erasmus+/International department at the sending institution.  Applications should be made to ONE of the following NCAD departments:

School of Fine Art: Print; Media; Painting; Sculpture & Expanded Practice; Textile Art & Artefact; Hard Materials (Ceramics/Glass)
School of Design: Product Design; Interaction Design; Graphic Design; Illustration; Moving Image; Jewellery & Objects; Fashion Design; Textile & Surface Design
School of Visual Culture
 

Once nominated by their home institution, students will be sent a link to an online application form.

- short curriculum vitae
- portfolio of work (studio-based programmes) or a writing sample (School of Visual Culture)
- passport style photo and copy of passport

As we receive a large number of applications each year and places are limited, we cannot guarantee that all applicants will be accepted.

Postgraduate Exchanges 

NCAD welcomes Erasmus applications for the following postgraduate programmes: *

School of Fine Art: MFA Fine Art (with streams in Media, Print, Painting, Sculpture)
School of Visual Culture: MA Art in the Contemporary World; MA Design History and Material Culture (Part time only)
School of Design: Msc Medical Device Design

*Offered programmes are subject to change - please check with the Erasmus office before nomination

Exchanges are possible during Trimester 1 (Autumn) OR Trimester 2 (Spring). For MFA Fine Art applications, Semester 2 (Spring) is preferred.

English Language Requirement

Programmes at NCAD are delivered through English. Exchange applicants should demonstrate an intermediate level of English language ability equivalent to B1 on the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEF). B2 is expected for students applying to the BA in Visual Culture or any Postgraduate programme.

European Health Insurance Card

All EU/EEA students are required to obtain the European Health Insurance Card from their home country and to carry it with them at all times.  Please note that this card only covers emergency treatment, so all students are advised to take out additional insurance before they travel.

Accomodation

NCAD does NOT offer any student accommodation. The Erasmus office can assist with links to local hostels and accommodation websites but it is the responsibility of the exchange student to secure suitable accommodation.

Visiting/Guest Students

Where we do not have a formal agreement with your home institution Visiting/Guest students are welcome to submit an application. You must have approval from your home institution to apply. In addition to the application documents as listed above, you must submit two letters of reference from your home institution. If the work and current course are considered suitable and space is available, you may be offered the opportunity to register as a fee-paying student. 

Fees for Visiting Students (as per 2023/24) 

One Trimester Studio : €8,250 (International) | €3,787(EU/EEA)
One Trimester Visual Culture : €6,750 (International) | €3,300 (EU/EEA)

Applications are also open to postgraduate programmes as listed above.
