Undergraduate Exchanges

Applications are welcome from students registered at any of NCAD's Erasmus or bi-lateral partners. Students should check with their home institution to see if there is an agreement in place. Undergratuate students may apply for an exchange during either the Autumn or the Spring Semester and if accepted will generally attend year 2 (and in some cases year 3) of the three-year Honours undergraduate degree programme. Students should be nominated first through the Erasmus+/International department at the sending institution.  Applications should be made to ONE of the following NCAD departments:

School of Fine Art: Fine Print; Media; Painting; Sculpture; Applied Material Culture (Textile Art & Artefact or Ceramics & Glass)
School of Design: Product Design, Visual Communication, Design for Body & Environment (Jewellery & Metalwork, Fashion Design, Textile & Surface Design)
School of Visual Culture
School of Education

 Completed applications should include the following and must be sent by email to erasmus@ncad.ie

-A completed Visiting Student Application Form
-A letter of motivation
-A short curriculum vitae
-A portfolio of work (studio-based programmes) or a writing sample (School of Visual Culture)

As we receive a large number of applications each year and places are limited, we cannot guarantee that all applicants will be accepted.

Postgraduate Exchanges 

NCAD welcomes Erasmus applications for postgraduate programmes in the school of Fine Art, Design, Visual Culture and Education. Exchanges are possible during Semester 1 (Autumn) OR Semester 2 (Spring). Fine Art applications are only accepted for Semester 2 (Spring).

Completed applications should include the following and must be sent by email to erasmus@ncad.ie

English Language Requirement

Programmes at NCAD are delivered through English. Erasmus applicants should demonstrate an intermediate level of English language ability equivalent to B1/B2 on the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEF).

European Health Insurance Card

All EU/EEA students are required to obtain the European Health Insurance Card from their home country and to carry it with them at all times.  Please note that this card only covers emergency treatment, so all students are advised to take out additional insurance before they travel.

Accomodation

NCAD does NOT offer any student accommodation services. The Erasmus office can assist with links to local hostels and accommodation websites but it is the responsibility of the exchange student to secure suitable accommodation.
 

Visiting/Guest Students

Where we do not have a formal agreement with your home institution Visiting/Guest students are welcome to submit a completed Visiting Student Application Form together with examples of work, two letters of reference from your home institution and a letter of motivation.  Please specify the preferred period of attendance.  If the work and current course are considered suitable and space is available here, you may be offered the opportunity to register as a fee-paying student.

The normal year-level for undergraduate courses is Year 2, the normal time of such a visit is Semester 2, late-January to May. 
One semester visit would cost in the region of €8,260 for international students (€3,300 for EU/EEA students).  International students applying to the Faculty of Visual Culture would pay in the region of 6,750 for 15 weeks.
