NCAD Postgraduate Opportunities

NCAD is offering two full fee tuition scholarships for its new studio masters programmes, MFA Design and MFA Fine Art. NCAD is also offering:

• Full fee tuition scholarships for its two MA Visual Culture programmes, MA Art in the Contemporary World and MA Design History and Material Culture
• Reduced fees for MSc Medical Device Design and MFA Art in the Digital World due to tuition fee support from the HEA Graduate Skills Conversion Programme.

Application closing dates to be eligible for the scholarships are the 7th of April for MFA Fine Art and MFA Art in the Digital World and the 30th of April for the other programmes.

MFA Design
The new MFA Design operates across a range of design disciplines with pathways in Product Design, Communication Design, Fashion Design, Textile Surface Design, Textile Art & Artefact, Jewellery & Metalwork and Ceramics / Glass. The MFA Design combines core taught elements in research and critical studies, with advanced studio practice. The aim of the MFA is to create a design culture that thrives on new ideas, new ways of doing things and new areas of exploration. We encourage our students to experiment and take risks in order to carve new aesthetic paths and make technical innovations within, and beyond, their design discipline. MFA Fine Art
The new MFA Fine Art builds on the existing and very successful MFA. It is constructed around an art practice based spine with research methodology, lectures and discussions in contemporary practice & critical theory and electives in themes offered through other MA programmes in Education, Design or Visual Culture. It will be offered through the disciplines of Fine Print, Media, Painting and Sculpture with significant common platforms of learning and art discourse. Application closing date: 7th April 2014

MA Art in the Contemporary World
A taught masters programme that examines contemporary art practices and their critical, theoretical, historical and social contexts. Open to graduates from varied backgrounds. Application closing date: 30th April 2014

MA Design History and Material Culture
A taught masters programme that provides a dynamic platform for the study of the material world in its historic and contemporary contexts. Open to graduates from varied backgrounds. Application closing date: 30th April 2014

MSc Medical Device Design
A 1 year taught masters in Medical Device Design in conjunction with science and engineering at UCD and TCD. This programme has reduced fees due to tuition fee support from the HEA Graduate Skills Conversion Programme. Application closing date: 30th April 2014

MFA Art in the Digital World
A 2 year taught studio programme designed to enable working artists to utilise a range of digital technologies and practices in their work. This programme has reduced fees due to tuition fee support from the HEA Graduate Skills Conversion Programme. Application closing date: 7th April 2014

MA in Visual Arts Education
A 2 year taught masters programme that supports leadership in policy, practice and research in arts based education. Application closing date: 30th April 2014

Professional Masters in Education (Art & Design)
A 2 year professional masters in Education with a qualification to teach art and design at postprimary level. Replaces the Professional Diploma in Art & Design Education. Application closing date: 1st April 2014
