What is involved in the student registration process?
Students eligible to register with the service will need to attend two appointments to complete a Need Assessment and Profile of Needs.
What is a Needs Assessment?
A Needs Assessment for a university student with a disability identifies the specific accommodations and support required for the student to participate fully in academic and campus life. This involves reviewing the student's disability, assessing academic and campus accessibility needs, and developing a tailored accommodation plan called a 'Profile of Needs' (PONS).
What is a Profile of Needs (PONS)?
A PONS is a summary of a student's needs that have been identified in the Needs Assessment appointment between the student and the Learning Support Service.
The purpose of the PONS is for relevant NCAD staff to be aware of the student's disability and their specific needs so that the staff can accommodate the student where possible.
