Welcome to all new students joining us in 2024 and welcome back to all our continuing students. Use the tabs below to find the information that will help you.

Welcome to 2024/2025 at NCAD!

All new and continuing students will receive information by email on how to register and pay fees. For information on Fee Payment and Grant Eligibility go to NCAD Fees & Grants.

The new teaching year starts Monday 16th September. 

Classes for undergraduate First Year students will begin on Monday 16th September.

Induction and Orientation for new entrants will take place during the weeks beginning Monday 2nd September and Monday 9th September.  You will be required to be in attendance on campus for one day only.  Details will be available after offers have been accepted through the CAO, you will need to book your session.

Welcome to NCAD!

We are delighted that you will be joining us in 2024 and we hope that you will enjoy your time as an NCAD student. Please find some important information below regarding your Registration and everything you need to know before getting started including the First Year Sourcing Project and Materials list. Specific information for the first year Visual Culture BA students appears below.

Classes for First Year Students will begin on Monday 16th September. Orientation and Induction will take place the previous week.

You will receive information by email on how to register and pay fees. This will be in the weeks after you accept your offer on CAO. This will be sent after the reply date on your offer round.

First Year Art & Design Studies (Studio Courses)

Sourcing Project, Materials List and other important information

To help you prepare for starting in NCAD we ask all First Year Studio students to work on a Sourcing Project and to bring the work from that project with you on the first day of College along with your materials and a represented selection of work from your original portfolio. First Year BA Visual Culture

Classes will begin on Monday 16th September. Orientation and Induction will take place during the previous week. Teaching on the BA in Visual Culture takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Visual Culture is based in the Harry Clarke Building on the main Thomas Street campus. Induction & Orientation 

If you were offered at Round 0 then your session will take place during the week of 2nd September. 

If you were offered at Round 1 then your session will take place during the week of 9th September.

Equal Access Survey

During your studies, you will be invited to participate in StudentSurvey.ie (Irish Survey of Student Engagement) or PGR StudentSurvey.ie (Irish Survey of Student Engagement for Postgraduate Research Students). Some of your information will be sent by your higher education institution directly to the survey company to ensure that the survey is offered only to relevant target groups. Your information will be used to collect your responses to the survey and make further anonymous analysis of results possible, for example, by gender or full-time/ part-time. This anonymised information will be shared with the HEA; your responses will be treated confidentially, and no individual student will be identifiable in any reports or results generated as a result of this survey (and so the information is not ‘personal data’ for the purposes of the GDPR). Registration 

You will receive notification by email when the Registration portal opens up for your group. We will begin sending these emails to your NCAD Student Email Account from mid August*. Your Registration can be completed through your My NCAD account.

*If you completed any resits or made any late submission of assignments last year you can expect an invitation to register slightly later. This will be after September 11th.

Info for All New NCAD Students:

Registration is online through the student gateway MY NCAD. You will receive an email notification with the dates for your online Registration and Fee Payment. As part of your online Registration you will be asked to upload the following:

   
A copy of your passport as photo ID
  • Your passport must be in date. 

  • If you do not have a current passport you can submit a copy of your birth certificate and another form of photo ID.

A passport-type photo, to be used as your Student Card photo
  • The photo should be a clear photo of your head and shoulders

  • Please take the photo against a plain background

  • You should be facing the camera. We will reject photos with a stylised pose

  • We will also reject photos that are filtered or edited. You must be fully clothed in the photo; the student card is an important document and is not designed to showcase any creative flair

Documentation from any previous third level institution attended indicating dates of registration and withdrawal (this is to substantiate your fee status)
  • You can request a letter from your previous College/University/Institute of Technology giving details of the dates of your registration there. 

  • This is not required for QQI Level 5 (PLC) courses. 

You will also be required to pay your fee
  • If your fees are being paid by SUSI, or the equivalent, you must also upload your document from your funding body confirming your eligibility. Please see NCAD Fees & Grants for more information.

What happens next?

The Student Services Team will review your online Registration, and all the documents you submit. If we need additional documents or a replacement photo we will contact you by email. 

Once all your documentation is correct and the first instalment of your fee has been paid your student card will be issued. You will be notified when you can collect it. 

Please note, you can not attend any classes until your registration has been completed.

Information for Continuing Students

You will receive notification by email when the Registration portal opens up for your group. We will begin sending these emails to your NCAD Student Email Account from mid August*. Your Registration can be completed through your My NCAD account.

Note on fees:

  • You will not be fully registered until you have paid the first instalment of your fees which are due 16th of September. New students fees will be due at the end of September.

  • Any change to this year's Student Contribution Charge arising out of the upcoming Budget (Budget 2024), will be reflected in your second trimester fees (where applicable)

Information on Registration

Registration takes place online through the student gateway MY NCAD. You will receive an email notification with the dates for your online Registration and Fee Payment. 

As part of your online Registration you will be asked to upload the following:

  • A copy of your passport as photo ID.
  • A passport-type photo, to be used as your college ID photo. (There are a number of apps that you can use to take this passport-type photo). 
  • You will also be required to pay your fees. If your fees are being paid by a grant authority such as SUSI or the equivalent, you must upload your document from your funding body confirming your eligibility. Please see NCAD Fees & Grants for more information.

The Student Services Team will review your online Registration and in particular whether you have uploaded all your documents correctly and whether your photo is suitable for a student card. Once all your documentation is correct your student card will be issued and you will be notified when you can collect it. 

Please note that you can not attend classes until your registration is complete. 

All students will receive information by email on how to login to MY NCAD, register and pay fees. These emails will be sent out starting from the week beginning 19th August.

Information on Induction timetables and getting started on your programmes will be circulated by your Programme leader.
