Welcome to all new students joining us in 2020 and welcome back to continuing students. Semester 1 commences Monday 05 October 2020.

All new and continuing students will receive information by email on how to register and pay fees. For information on Fee Payment and Grant Eligibility go to NCAD Fees & Grants.

Student Supports  - Government Laptop Loan Scheme

NCAD is participating in the Government Laptop Loan Scheme, an initiative to support blended and online learning.   Allocation of these laptops will be based on an assessment of need.

Equal Access Survey- As part of the Registration process all newly registering students are required to fill in an Equal Access Survey which is then returned to the Higher Education Authority (HEA).  Further information on this survey can be found at  HEA Data Collection Notice 2020/21

New undergraduate students - Welcome to NCAD.  We are delighted that you will be joining us in 2020 and we hope that you will enjoy your time as an NCAD student. Please find some important information below regarding your Registration. 

Registration Process for New Students: 

Registration is online through the student gateway MY NCAD. You will receive an email notification with the dates for your online Registration and Fee Payment. As part of your online Registration you will be asked to upload the following:

  • A copy of your passport as photo ID.
  • Documentation from any previous third level institution attended indicating dates of registration and withdrawal (this is to substantiate your fee stauts) .
  • A passport-type photo, to be used as your college id. photo. (There are a number of apps that you can use to take this passport-type photo). 
  • You will also be required to pay your fees. If your fees are being paid by SUSI or the equivalent, you must upload your document from your funding body confirming your eligibility. Please see NCAD Fees & Grants for more information.

The Student Services Team will review your online Registration in partciular whether you have uploaded all your documents correctly and whether your photo is suitable for a student card.  Once all your documentation is correct your student card will be issued and you will be notified when you can collect it. 

Please note that no person is entitled to attend classes until they have registered

First Year Art & Design Studies - Sourcing Project, Materials List and other important information

First Year studio students will be divided into Group A and Group B,  those in Group A will be present on campus in the first half of each week, and those in Group B will be present on campus in the second half of the week. Learning for Group A will continue remotely for the remainder of the week, and Group B will learn remotely during the first half of the week.  First year students will be sent details in advance of their 'on-campus days' , it is important that you only attend the campus on your designated days.  This email will be sent out the week before the start of teaching on the 5th October.   

To help you prepare for starting in NCAD we ask all First Year Studio students to work on a Sourcing Project and to bring the work from that project with you on the first day of College along with your materials and a representive selection of work from your original portfolio. First Year BA in Visual Culture - important information

First Year BA in Visual Culture students will be divided into Group A and Group B and each group will be on campus 2 days a week. You will be expected to work remotely on your course reading and assignments for the remainder of the week.  You will be sent details in advance of your 'on-campus days', it is important that you only attend the campus on your designated days.  This email will be sent out the week before the start of teaching on the 5th October. BA in Visual Culture students are not required to purchase any art materials or complete the 'Sourcing Project'. A recommended general reading list is available in the Student Handbook. It is not compulsory to purchase these books, they can be borrowed from the NCAD library. Additional module specific readings will be issued by the module leaders once the academic year commences and, where possible, they will be made available as PDFs.

Induction & Orientation

Registration for Continuing Students will Open the Week of 7th September.

As a continuing student you will receive notification by email when the Registration portal opens up for your group.   Your Registration can be completed through your My NCAD account, you will find a link to MY NCAD on the NCAD website. 

As a continuing student you will receive information from your Head of Department on your timetable for 2020/21 and your designated on-campus days.   In order for NCAD to stay compliant with Health & Safety requirments it is important that you only attend the campus on your designated days.

Important information for International students registering at NCAD in 2020-21

In line with Irish Government protocol there are a series of measures to support students arriving in Ireland from overseas, to ensure that this arrival is managed and coordinated, and to protect public health and the safety of all students, staff and the wider community. These measures include:

  • A nationally-coordinated meet and greet service at the airport
  • A free transfer service to your accommodation
  • Monitoring of your health for a period of two weeks before and after your arrival by way of a health questionnaire form
  • Briefing from NCAD on how to comply with Irish public health measures  

NCAD will email all identified international students prior to the commencement of teaching on 5th October.
