Welcome to 2021/2022 at NCAD!

Students can expect regular and timetabled access to the studios and workshops with face-to-face teaching planned to resume for seminars and classroom settings. Click here to read the Update from NCAD Director, Sarah Glennie Link

All new and continuing students will receive information by email on how to register and pay fees. For information on Fee Payment and Grant Eligibility go to NCAD Fees & Grants.

The new academic teaching year starts Monday 20th September. Classes for First Year students will begin on Monday 27th of September .

You will see that the different tabs here will have the information you need whether you a new or returning student, taking an Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme. 

New Undergraduate Students 

Welcome to NCAD! We are delighted that you will be joining us in 2021 and we hope that you will enjoy your time as an NCAD student. Please find some important information below regarding your Registration and everything you need to know before getting started including the First Year Sourcing Project and Materials list. Specific information for the first year Visual Culture BA students appears below.

Classes for First Year Students will begin on Monday 27th September

Classes will be on campus for two days a week with two days taking place online. There will also be availability of scheduled studio time on campus.

You will receive information by email on how to register and pay fees. This will be in the weeks after you accept your offer on CAO. This will sent be after the reply date on your offer round.

Registration Process for New Students: 

If you accepted your CAO offer at Round 1 then you will receive your Invitation to Register by email by the end of this week

Registration is online through the student gateway MY NCAD. You will receive an email notification with the dates for your online Registration and Fee Payment. As part of your online Registration you will be asked to upload the following:

  • A copy of your passport as photo ID.
  • Documentation from any previous third level institution attended indicating dates of registration and withdrawal (this is to substantiate your fee status).
  • A passport-type photo, to be used as your college id. photo. (There are a number of apps that you can use to take this passport-type photo). 
  • You will also be required to pay your fees. If your fees are being paid by SUSI, or the equivalent, you must also upload your document from your funding body confirming your eligibility. Please see NCAD Fees & Grants for more information.

The Student Services Team will review your online Registration, in particular whether you have uploaded all your documents correctly and whether your photo is suitable for a student card. Once all your documentation is correct your student card will be issued and you will be notified when you can collect it. 

Please note, you can not attend any classes until your registration has been completed.

First Year Art & Design Studies - Sourcing Project, Materials List and other important information

First Year studio students will be divided into Group A and Group B, those in Group A will be present on campus in the first half of each week, and those in Group B will be present on campus in the second half of the week. Learning for Group A will continue remotely for the remainder of the week, and Group B will learn remotely during the first half of the week. First year students will be sent details in advance of their 'on-campus days’, it is important that you only attend the campus on your designated days. We will contact you about this after you accept your offer.

To help you prepare for starting in NCAD we ask all First Year Studio students to work on a Sourcing Project and to bring the work from that project with you on the first day of College along with your materials and a represented selection of work from your original portfolio. BA Visual Culture

The BA Visual Culture programme will be taught on-site on our Thomas Street Campus on three days each week from the week commencing 27th September 2021. Detailed information about the timetable and the content of first year modules will be sent by email in early September. If you have any queries, please email visualculture@staff.ncad.ie 

Equal Access Survey

During your studies, you will be invited to participate in StudentSurvey.ie (Irish Survey of Student Engagement) or PGR StudentSurvey.ie (Irish Survey of Student Engagement for Postgraduate Research Students). Some of your information will be sent by your higher education institution directly to the survey company to ensure that the survey is offered only to relevant target groups. Your information will be used to collect your responses to the survey and make further anonymous analysis of results possible, for example, by gender or full-time/ part-time. This anonymised information will be shared with the HEA; your responses will be treated confidentially, and no individual student will be identifiable in any reports or results generated as a result of this survey (and so the information is not ‘personal data’ for the purposes of the GDPR). Induction & Orientation 

Information on Induction and Orientation will be circulated the Registrations Team. This Year Induction and Orientation will be split into two parts. Part One is on Campus and Part Two is a Live Webimar. Attending inductions is mandatory and forms part of the first year Professional Practice Module. Information will be sent by email after you accept your offer. We will be sending the emails once a day once your offer round has opened.

Welcome back to NCAD! 

Classes will begin for continuing students on Monday 20th September.

As a continuing student, you will receive notification by email when the Registration portal opens up for your group. We will begin sending these emails to your NCAD Student Email Account from September 1st. Your Registration can be completed through your My NCAD account, you will find a link to MY NCAD on the NCAD website.

If you completed any resits or made any late submission of assignments lasy year you can expect an invitation to register during the week beginning September 13th. 

You will receive information from your Head of Department on your timetable for 2021/22 and your designated on-campus days. Year 2 Students will be on Campus on Mondays & Tuesdays. final Year Students will be on campus Thursdays & Fridays. 

In order for NCAD to stay compliant with Health & Safety requirements it is important that you only attend the campus on your designated days.

Important information for International students registering at NCAD in 2021-22

In line with Irish Government protocol there are a series of measures to support students arriving in Ireland from overseas, to ensure that this arrival is managed and coordinated, and to protect public health and the safety of all students, staff and the wider community. These measures include:
