This one year part-time course offers students an opportunity to extend their visual vocabulary and explore the creative possibilities of photography within contemporary visual art and design practice.

Several of our former students were featured in the exhibition which went up during lockdown on hoardings across Dublin: The Positive Space @ThePSIreland including @AislingMcCoy.


P+DI graduates have progressed to various Fine Art BA pathways in NCAD, as well as the BA in photographic Media, at Griffith College Dublin, and beyond.


  • Niamh Smith (Dublin), Home, Soft Focus Life, Cocooning, Shortlisted for the 2020 Zurich Portrait Prize. This is Niamh’s second nomination in 2 years.
    Graduate of C.E.A.D. Photography and Digital Imaging, 2017.
    Progressed to Ulster University Belfast - School of Art’s - MFA in Photography.
  • Shane Hynan, selected for the 'Emerging Artist Solo Exhibition Award' for 2020 through Arts in Co. Kildare (Kildare Arts Service) and Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge.
    Graduate of C.E.A.D. Photography and Digital Imaging, 2017.
    Progressed to Ulster University Belfast - School of Art’s - MFA in Photography.

  • Joe Marner, just published a book with the Library Project. 
    Graduate of C.E.A.D. Photography and Digital Imaging, 2020. 
    Joe is set to study a BA in Photography in Rotterdam in 2020-21. 

  • Gerry Blake, RHA AWARD for Best emerging photographer.
    Gerry has also showed at the Lexicon , Dun Laoghaire where he also runs a photographic course.  

  • Jeanette Lowe, Taylor Wessing Prize Finalist.
    Jeanette Lowe is a photographic artist who is probably best known for her studies of inner-city Dublin communities and architecture. She has exhibited extensively in Ireland and internationally. 

  • Erin Quinn, Hennessy Port Prize Finalist.
    Erin has also had solo shows in The Talbot galleries and studios, and showed in several RHA summer shows.



Mandy O’Neill  - Visiting lecturer Mandy O’Neill won the Zurich Portrait Prize in 2016, the first photographer to win this prize ever. http://www.mandyoneill.ie/
