Applying for Time Out
A period of Time Out is defined as an extended period of time spent away from the programme of study. Students may apply for Time Out for a period of one or two trimesters. Applications for Time Out need to be approved by Academic Registry in consultation with the Head of Academic Affairs, the Head of School and Head of Department.
Students must submit a completed form (along with any supporting documentation) to Academic Registry for approval by emailing it to studentrecords@staff.ncad.ie. Please see the table below to find the application form.
Time Out requests must be completed and approved prior to the deadline for the relevant Trimester in order for a student to avoid incurring fees and academic results being recorded for that Trimester.
- Trimester 1 Deadline for submission - 31st October
- Trimester 2 Deadline for submission - 28th February
- Trimester 3 Deadline for submission - 31st May (post-graduate programmes only)
Please note Time Out Applications submitted after these dates will result in fees being incurred and assessment results will be recorded.
A period of Time Out may have implications for your fee status, you should speak to a member of staff in Academic Registry to clarify your position. If you are in receipt of a grant you are obliged to let your grant authority know of your change of status.
Returning from Time Out - students must notify Academic Registry (studentrecords@ncad.ie) of their intention to return to the course by 1st May prior to the academic year to which they have to return. Students failing to do this may be unable to re-enter the programme of study.
Withdrawal
Withdrawing from the College may have implications for fees and grants. If you are in receipt of a grant you are obliged to let your grant authority know of your change of status. See below for the Withdrawal Form.
