NCAD operates a rolling closing date for applications to undertake a research degree (PhD and MLitt).

Applications will be reviewed on receipt; and interviews will be organised and offers will be sent on a rolling basis.

NCAD offers the following PhD Research Programmes (AD567)

PhD by Practice in Design

The PhD through practice in the School of Design entails a practitioner producing a body of work within a critically reflective frame of enquiry with the intention of extending and innovating an area of design practice.

PhD through Education

The School of Education has a broad research remit in art, design and visual education including all levels of educational provision and is especially interested in encouraging innovative research approaches.

PhD in Fine Art

PhD researchers in the School of Fine Art extend and develop a particular area of art practice through practical work, exhibition and discursive production.

PhD Opportunities in the School of Visual Culture

The School of Visual Culture is an interdisciplinary centre for teaching and research in humanities and social science disciplines with particular focus and expertise across the history, theory and criticism of art, design and visual culture.
