Research Ethics
At NCAD our research is conducted both into and through the making, study, and education of art and design, recognising that these fields are dynamic and changing. Research at NCAD seeks to achieve the highest possible standards across the multidisciplinary environment of our research community. Researchers at NCAD must consider the potential impact of their proposed research, and adhere to relevant regulatory guidelines and international norms for best practice. This code sets out the framework and relevant procedures for supporting good research ethics at NCAD.
NCAD Research Ethics Guidelines for Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate Researchers
To ensure research at NCAD is guided by good practice, all students are asked to fully consider the broad scope of potential ethical implications of their research. In addition to the NCAD Research Ethics Policy and Code of Good Practice available above, NCAD students have access to a range of supports detailed in the Research Ethics Guidelines for Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate Researchers document available below:

Research Training
Research Development and Training Week
NCAD offers research training to staff and research students throughout the academic year. Each September the Research Office organsises a week-long series of workshops and talks led by NCAD staff and researchers from beyond the College. Full details of the 2025 programme are available here.
Epigeum Research Integrity Training
Research integrity training available to all NCAD researchers
All NCAD students and staff now have access to ‘Research Integrity – Second Edition’ an online course offered by Epigeum which provides a comprehensive overview of how researchers in Ireland can meet their responsibilities, setting out the key principles and practices of responsible research conduct, and guiding learners through the lifecycle of a research project. All MRes and PhD students undertake this training as part of their studies.
