Women in Design

NCAD designers speaking at major conference at National Museum May 2019

'Women and Design' conference at the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks on 24th and 25th May 2019

The conference will be a celebration and an exploration of Irish women in design, highlighting the work of women designers in the Museum’s collections, and asking questions such as whether it is important that designers are recognised and remembered as women; when it comes to design, does gender matter, and would our designed environment look any different, if there were more women working in design?

The conference brings a broad range of contributors together to explore these questions, including Juliet Kinchin, Curator of Design at MoMA, artist Alison Lowry, designer Sasha Sykes, design historian Dr Linda King and architect Shelley McNamara of award-winning practice Grafton Architects and NCAD staff Renata Pekowska and Helen McAllister.
