Press Release - Nordic Now

Exhibitors and Events Announced for Nordic Now

The programme for Nordic Now has been finalised, with eight exhibitors and four visiting designers from the Nordic region coming to Dún Laoghaire for an exhibition and events from 26 October to 17 November.

Opening on 26 October, Dún Laoghaire design store Nordic Makers hosts Nordic Now, an exhibition showcasing contemporary design and highlighting emerging designers and small studios from the Nordic region. The exhibition runs in Nordic Makers until 17 November and features work from Hunting & Narud (NO), Ask og Eng (NO), Saana ja Olli (FI), Leena Kouhia (FI), Jenny Nordberg (SE), Kajsa Willner (SE), Edvard & Steenfatt (DK) and Tina Marie Bentsen (DK).

Accompanying the exhibition is a seminar in dlr LexIcon on 26 October entitled ‘Nordic Now: Designing Sustainably and Sustaining Design’, which will explore sustainability in contemporary design, as well as touching on how the Nordic countries support and promote design. Lastly, the exhibition will be accompanied by a series of informal events in Nordic Makers, each shining a light on a designer from a different Nordic country. A presentation, conversation and drinks each Thursday night of the exhibition’s run will take a closer look at each designer’s practice.

“After a year and a half of selling Nordic design in Dún Laoghaire, we are now embarking on our most ambitious project. We are opening our doors for an exhibition and programme of events that we hope our customers, old and new, will really enjoy!” says Nordic Makers co-founder, Klaus Sørensen.

“It has been such a pleasure to collaborate with Nordic Makers and our fellow Nordic Embassies here in Ireland to present Nordic Now. We are all so proud of our Nordic design heritage, and can’t wait to share it through the exhibition, seminar and our national events”, adds the Finnish ambassador to Ireland, Jaana Teckenberg.
