NCAD confirms a new five-year partnership with the Liu Shiming Art Foundation
The National College of Art and Design (NCAD) is pleased to confirm a new five-year partnership with the Liu Shiming Art Foundation, based in midtown New York.
Beginning in the 2025/26 academic year, this five-year scholarship will support one outstanding student each year in NCAD’s BFA or MFA Sculpture and Expanded Practice programme. The recipients, recognised as Liu Shiming Scholars, will receive an annual bursary valued at the euro equivalent of $3,000 to assist them as they complete their final year projects. This marks the Foundation’s first scholarship initiative in Ireland, further extending its mission to support the next generation of artists across borders.
Liu Shiming was a renowned Chinese sculptor, and the Foundation established in his name is dedicated to supporting emerging artists and sculptors internationally. The partnership was formally marked during a recent visit to the Liu Shiming Art Foundation and Gallery in Midtown Manhattan, where NCAD Director, Sarah Glennie, Professor Philip Napier (Head of the School of Fine Art), and Gwendoline Farrelly (Connect and Be Connected Implementation Lead) met with the Executive Director of the Liu Shiming Art Foundation, Puiking Hui.
We are grateful to the Liu Shiming Art Foundation for their support and look forward to seeing the positive impact this bursary will have on our students over the next five years.
