Portraiture and Tapestry Workshops

NCAD was delighted to welcome pupils and art teachers from 16 DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) band schools from across Dublin that are registered with the college’s Access Programme.  Access Day aims to promote awareness of the options that are available in higher education in art and design at NCAD through the delivery of a series of studio based workshop that introduce new materials and technologies to the participants.  The workshops were designed and facilitated by art and design students from the college with support from faculty staff and included Flame-working in the glass studio, Digital Portraiture and Mind-mapping using Photoshop in media, Constructing Mobiles in the painting studio, Casting in sculpture along with printmaking, ceramics, visual communication, product design and metals and jewellery workshops.  Pupils also engaged with fashion and textiles, portfolio preparation and workshops that focussed on the notebook as a visual research tool and the Dublin 1913 Tapestry, which was on show at the NCAD Gallery.  For further information contact Finola Mc Ternan, Access Officer: mcternanf@staff.ncad.ie.
