Pioneering exhibition on women and the electrification of Irish homes

NCAD lecturer Dr Sorcha O’Brien brought her three year research project, Electric Irish Homes: Rural Electrification, Domestic Products and Irish Women in the 1950s and 1960s, to its culmination when a major exhibition opened at the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life on 19th July. Launched by Mrs. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, the exhibition is a landmark study of everyday modernity in Ireland.
