Increase in CAO applications to Art & Design
While there has been an increase of 8.5% in overall applications to the CAO, applications to art and design subject areas have increased by 23%.
Within the CAO statistics released on Tuesday 9th March, one interesting and perhaps unexpected trend is the increase in applications to art and design courses.
While there has been an increase of 8.5% in overall applications to the CAO, applications to art and design subject areas have increased by 23%.
NCAD Director, Sarah Glennie commented - while we are delighted with a 30% increase in applications to NCAD, what is really good news is that this trend is reflected across art and design in general. It is great to see a growing understanding of the value of the kind of practical studio based education art and design offers to business, the economy and society. Our graduates have the training to think and act creatively, to cope with uncertainties and to contribute in a really positive way to shaping the future. It is interesting that following some of the most uncertain and unsettling of times many young people are choosing to see their future by making choices with a strong creative focus.
