Future Creators project partners with 3e

The Digital Hub Future Creators programme, developed by H2 and NCAD, has just announced an exciting partnership with TV3 Group channel, 3e.

The partnership will offer students on the Future Creators programme an opportunity to hone their digital media skills in one of Ireland’s leading media environments.  Students will get advice and workshops from some of the leading people at TV3 Group while working on their projects.

As part of this new partnership a short film made by the students will be broadcast to a national audience on 3e this summer and will be promoted on 3player. In addition, €5k worth of display advertising on 3eTV.ie and tv3.ie will be used to promote the apps developed by students with a special section on www.3eTV.ie/xccelerator dedicated to showcasing the Future Creators’ work.

Gerry Macken, Chief Executive of The Digital Hub Development Agency said: “We are delighted with this partnership with 3e. This is a fantastic opportunity for the students on the programme to see the breadth of careers available in one of Ireland’s biggest media organisations. Getting to learn the secrets behind the production of quality media programming will help to shape these students’ futures in ways they might never have even considered.”

Jill O’Brien, TV3 Group Director of Digital, said: “The Future Creators project is a brilliant introduction to digital media for young people and our aim is give the students a fully rounded look at how 3e, a young, progressive channel, operates across programme production, digital and marketing. We recently launched the Xccelerator project at 3e, which is a series of initiatives partnering with second and third level students, so we are thrilled to give the Future Creators participants a national platform to showcase their creative skills”.

Future Creators gives young people an opportunity to develop digital media skills while exploring their creative potential. The initiative sees 24 young people, ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old, attending classes at The Digital Hub on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  54 students applied to participate in the Future Creators programme, and the final group of 24 young people were selected following an interview.  These participants are students from CBS Synge Street, CBS James Street, Presentation Secondary School Warrenmount, St Patricks Grammar School, Mercy Convent, Inchicore and Loreto College, Crumlin.

The programme is run in conjunction with National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and H2 Learning.  The Future Creators have already attended NCAD for three sessions, where they got to experience the industrial design, film and textile departments.
