Archiving Plurality,
Archiving Plurality, NIVAL's very first printed publication will be launched on the 11th of October, at 6pm, in the Gallery at Project Arts Centre. Come to meet some of the artists, designers and writ
Archiving Plurality : A Collaborative Process is the result of a year-long project led by post-doctoral researcher-in-residency Alessia Cargnelli for NIVAL, with the objective of further facilitating access, inclusion and visibility of artists and designers from diverse ethnic, cultural, gender backgrounds and nationalities currently underrepresented in the collections.
The publication collates the responses of the many arts professionals involved in the research and a series of commissioned writings by teresa cisneros, Sara Damaris Muthi, Bojana Janković and Sophie Mak-Schram. This multiplicity of approaches enable us to better understand and preserve the plurality of creative contemporary practices on the island of Ireland, ultimately seeking to answer the question "How to practise the right to belong?”
At the launch, refreshments will be provided (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available). The venue is wheelchair accessible. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about accessibility of the venue and/or the event. This event is un-ticketed and the admission is free.
If you are unable to attend the launch, please contact NIVAL at nivalinfo@staff.ncad.ie to purchase a copy or request the digital version.
Archiving Plurality is published by NIVAL: National Irish Visual Arts Library, edited by Alessia Cargnelli and designed by Alex Synge. The publication is kindly supported by the Arts Council’s Capacity Building Scheme and NCAD, through the Edward Murphy Bequest and the Art Research Development Office. A big thank you to Project Arts Centre for generously hosting the publication launch.
