NCAD Gallery Open Call to NCAD students and staff for submissions to Exhibit 2014 / 2015. Deadline for this round of proposals is 5pm, 21st June 2013.

The National College of Art and Design Gallery invite submissions for the Gallery programme 2014 / 2015. This call for submission by proposal is open to all students and staff at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Submissions may describe but are not limited to projects / performance /exhibition / workshops / events and may propose to utilise the NCAD Gallery, Harry Clarke Lecture Theatre, Harry Clarke Foyer, some areas of the NCAD Campus or external sites off campus.

NOTE: Please note NCAD Gallery accepts and welcomes proposals from any individual arts practitioners or groups throughout the year who are not students or staff of NCAD. The deadline for this round of proposals is 5pm, 21st June 2013 for NCAD students and staff.

In your proposal please include:

• Project / exhibition proposal
• Practitioner’s statement and why the proposal would work in this particular context.
• Biography and CV
• Supporting material

Submissions are accepted electronically by email to gallery@ncad.ie  (please type ‘Gallery Submission’ in the subject field), by hand delivering your proposal to the NCAD Head Attendants Office or by post to:

Submissions Policy

The NCAD Gallery is a public venue as well as a College Gallery. The on-going programme is selected on the basis of invited or unsolicited proposals by the Gallery Committee, which is made up of staff of all Faculties. Proposals can be made by individuals or groups and should address the nature of the Gallery space and its context in the College, the city and the art and design sector, in general. It might be useful to have a conversation with Anne Kelly the Curatorial Coordinator in advance of finalising a proposal.

NCAD Gallery Mission Statement 2013

NCAD Gallery is the public face of the National College of Art and Design (NCAD). The Gallery supports contemporary practice and critical debate in visual arts practices and aims to reflect the diversity and strengths of the college by developing and promoting the future of art and design in Ireland.

Its central objective is to communicate effectively, through exhibitions and public programmes, the role that NCAD and the gallery play in the production, discussion, education and exhibition of visual arts practices.

NCAD Gallery is a space for research and debate. It provides the resources to facilitate contemporary discourse pertinent to art and design practitioners.

It acts as a gateway in and out of the college. It connects the active research and practice conducted at the college with wider local, national and international audiences.

The gallery plays a central role in developing local, national and international connections between other relevant institutions or bodies with a view to availing of significant exhibitions, providing opportunities for students and staff and providing other places for shows originating in the gallery to exhibit.

The exhibitions programme plays a significant and meaningful educational role. It provides a context of contemporary practice in the immediate environment of NCAD. The gallery provides the opportunity for students, staff, invited practitioners, curators and theorists to experiment with, develop and publicly display their work.
