NCAD welcomes applications from mature students to all our programmes. A mature student is any EU student who will be 23 years of age on the 1st of January of the proposed year of entry to NCAD.
Applications to Studio Based Programmes that Require a Portfolio Submission for Entry:
Including all Art, Design and Education Programmes - AD101/AD102/AD103/AD202/AD204/AD211/AD212/AD220/AD222
As a mature student you should apply for these programmes in the same way and at the same time as any other student applying to First Year NCAD. This means you should apply through the CAO by the 1st February and submit a portfolio by the requried date. You should include on the CAO application form information about your previous education as well as any relevant work or other experience that might support your application. Please send any supporting documentation such as transcripts or CVs to the CAO marked clearly with your CAO number.
You will be informed of the outcome of your portfolio submission at the same time as other students ( late March) . Mature applicants who achieve a sufficient portfolio score to warrant an offer but who do not otherwise meet minimum academic entry requirements through a Leaving Certificate or QQI/FETAC award will be considered on the grounds of mature years based on the information provided with your CAO application. You may be invited to attend for interview, you will be told if you are to receive an offer as a mature student during April/ May.
Mature applicants to AD215 Visual Culture should apply through the CAO by 1st February and should include on the CAO form information about your previous education as well as any relevant work or other experience that might support your application. Please send any supporting documentation such as transcripts or CVs to the CAO marked clearly with your CAO number. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend for interview during March/ April and will be told the outcome of this interview during May.
Mature students can expect to receive their formal offer of a place in First Year in NCAD through the CAO in early August (Round 0). You should accept this offer through the CAO by the time indicated on the offer notice.
Uversity Higher Education Scholarships for Adult Learners
NCAD is pleased to announce that Uversity will begin accepting on-line applications for its new HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ADULT LEARNERS via www.uversity.org from 8TH January 2018.
Uversity’s Scholarships are intended to remove financial barriers so that adult learners can unlock their potential and realise their academic ambitions.
Uniquely, Uversity’s scholarships will provide full financial support, if required, for the entire period of the recipients’ study. The Scholarships will provide meaningful, multi-annual financial support for recipients to pursue a Bachelor’s degree for the first time in a Hugher Education institution in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Scholarships can be awarded to any subject area and will be tailored to individual financial circumstances to cover some or all of the direct and indirect costs associated with higher education.
The closing date is 1st May 2018. Successful candidates will be notified in July 2018.
