Research Staff : Dr. Paul O'Brien B.A. (Hons.), Ph.D.
Lecturer in Visual Culture

Dr. Paul O'Brien's research interests include aesthetics, contemporary art (including bio-art, hybrid art, new media art, environmental art and the art/science crossover), critical theory, cultural studies, ecological philosophy, film theory, video game theory, and literary theory.

He has published in areas including contemporary art, cultural studies, film studies, computer game studies, and post-colonialism. He has supervised successful PhD projects in the areas of contemporary art, interactive film, broadcast radio, and inter-disciplinarity, and is currently involved in supervising PhD projects (both theory and theory/practice) in areas including film, contemporary art, art/politics/propaganda, art/science, and new media.
