Prof.Angela Woods personal research areas are within Fashion Design with a focus on 'user-centred' applications both within Ireland and abroad.
2007 As Visiting Professor at the Institute of Textiles & Clothing (ITC), Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Angela moderated the ITC staff researchers out-puts, wrote the exhibition catalogue forward and co-curated the 'Washed-out' exhibition of contemporary jeans-wear.
Angela has recently led 3 'garment/fashion' related research projects funded by the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher scheme within the Department of Fashion and Textiles.
2008. The development of new garment details and manufacturing techniques for Chemical Services Ltd. Dublin, to ensure waterproof qualities and flexibility of length and fit to specific garments manufactured for the farming and food industries within Ireland. 2009. Fashion Knitwear garment designs and colour-ways for Shuttle Knit Ltd. Wicklow. Ireland. This small knitting and weaving enterprise was established in 2001 and provides opportunities for Travellers and settled persons to develop their work related skills.(associate researchers, Clare Daly, Rachel O'Connell)
2009. Women's fashion footwear designs for George Tutty Bespoke Footwear, Naas, Co.Kildare, Ireland. The production of design ideas that can be translated into bespoke 'fashion-aware' footwear suitable for post-polio syndrome survivors.(associate researcher, Linda Byrne)
2010. External Reviewer for an ITC, Hong Kong PolyU funded project, 'Blooming Style'. This research explores maternity fashion styling and consumer behaviour. The review of the research findings and the outputs will form the basis for a subsequent exhibition catalogue forward.
