Connecting a Windows Vista Computer

  i.   Right click on the Computer icon (red X through it) on bottom right of desktop    
  ii.   From the pop up menu select "Connect to a network"    
           
         
           
  iii   Clcik on link "Set up a connection or network"    
           
         
           
  iv.   Double click on the option to "Manually connect to a wireless network"    
           
         
           
  v.   Type in the name of the wireless network, "NCAD"    
  vi.   From the drop down list select "WPA2-Enterprise" for the Security Type    
  vii   From the drop down list select AES for Encryption type    
  viii   By putting a tick in this box you can set your computer to join this network once you are within range of it    
  ix.   Clcik next    
           
         
           
  x.   Clcik on "Use the existing network" if prompted that the network already exists    
           
         
           
  xi.   Right click on the wireless network you wish to join and click on "Properties"    
           
         
           
  xii.   Clcik on the "Security" tab    
  xiii   Ensure that Security Type is set to "WPA2-Enterprise"    
  xiv   Ensure that Encryption type is set to "AES"    
  xv   Ensure that PEAP is selected for the network authentication method    
  xvi   Clcik on the "Settings" button for PEAP    
           
         
           
  xvii.   Ensure that there is no tick in the box for "Validate server certificate"    
  xviii.   Ensure that "Secured password (EAP-...) is selected for Authentication method    
  xix.   Click on the Configure button    
           
         
           
  xx.   Ensure there is no tick in the tickbox for Automatically use my windows logon .....    
  xxi.   Click OK    
           
         
           
  xxii.   Select the network you wish to join i.e. staff, undergrad, postgrad    
  xxiii.   Click on the Connect button to join this network    
           
         
           
  xxiv.   Click on the option to "Enter/select additional logon information"    
           
         
           
  xxv.   Please enter your username - you will have received this by sms text from IT Support    
  xxvi.   Please enter your password - you will have received this by sms text from IT Support    
  xxvii.   If you want windows to remember your logon username and password please put a tick in this box    
  xxviii.   Clcik OK to connect to the Internet
