Essay / Thesis Guidelines and Submission Deadlines
Essay Procedures: Students
- Your tutor will give you a copy of the Essay Guidelines, and a cover sheet, when giving you your essay topic. The guidelines will help explain the correct way to reference your work. Please note that there are also Research and Writing Skills classes available to help with research and written work to which everyone is most welcome.
- The cover sheet must be completed correctly, with the following:
- your name
- your faculty/department
- your tutor
- Do not put the essay in plastic folders, but staple the pages together, and put in the box with your tutor’s name on the front.
- Essays must be handed in on dates specified. The closing time is 4.00 p.m. and essays handed in after that time will be deemed late.
- Any essays not in by the correct date will be held until April 26 2006, when they will be marked as Pass (40% or 2.0 GPA) or Fail. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS, other than with a medical certificate. Broken computers, corrupted discs, faulty printers, traffic jams are NOT acceptable excuses.
- If your essay is late, and you have a doctor’s certificate, hand both to the Faculty Administrator as soon after the due date as possible.
- Your tutor should return your essay to you personally. If you do not get it back, it will be sent over to your studio via the internal post.
- Plagiarism is taken most seriously here at NCAD. If your work is found to have been plagiarised, it will be deemed a non-submission, you will have to be re-submitted, pay a financial penalty, and have a record placed into your file. Further occurrences may result in suspension.
