Eileen Lee
My work stems directly from my own life experiences, travel, and interest in marine life and navigation. My project included the exploration of the physicality of the surfaces of boats and ships. The surfaces of these vessels tend to verge on the border of abstraction as they contemplate the region where narrative breaks away from visualisation. They induce the eye to enter into that place of nostalgia and desire, allowing the mind to conjure up images of unreal reality.
For my degree show, I include some pieces with the correct visual language in which the viewer can engage and the artwork can become a space of immanent transcendence.
