Sculpture
BA in Fine Art
BA in History of Art and Fine Art
The Department of Sculpture seeks to promote and develop individual creativity in students and an awareness of how visual expression meets contemporary society.
Sculpture engages ideas of space and time. Fundamental media such as metal, wood, clay, stone and plastics, manipulated in dedicated workshops, are complemented by digital technology, lens based media such as video and photography, installation, performance and work which engages the public environment.
Expanded Sculpture Practice
The Sculpture Department has produced two publications highlighting the expanded sculpture practice of the department which are now available to download. The publications were designed by Hannah O'Mahony as part of her Visual Communications degree project.

Course Description
Through individual group tutorials, seminars, tuition in studio and workshop practices, students develop their capacity to form judgements which are relevant to their own technical specialisation and to enable them to produce their own work as sculptors.
The tutorial system is designed to identify the requirements of individual students through discussions between staff and students. Individual tutorials and group criticism sessions are held at regular intervals. Because of the workshop-based nature of much of the work there is constant contact between staff and students.
A visiting programme brings the students into contact with the very best contemporary artists.
