Head of Centre for Continuing Education in Art & Design
Nuala returned to NCAD as research co-ordinator of continuing education in 2000. Following a period of research and review a new vision for Continuing Education was agreed and passed by Academic Council in 2001. In 2002 Nuala was appointed Head of the Centre for Continuing Education and led the development of new progression routes for adult learners, including Certificates, Diplomas and the post-graduate Higher Diploma in Community Arts Education. As head of CEAD she has initiated the Teaching and Learning Initiative across college. From the late 1980's and '90's, Nuala worked as a lecturer in art history, an arts project co-ordinator, a trainig officer for an EU/Arts Council national arts training project, and as an accreditation advisor to the National Youth Federation.
Research Interests include:
- Developments in Labourers cottages in Ireland 1860-1910
- Implications of Accreditation for learners in the non formal education sector
- Participatory Arts Practices in Ireland
- Exploring the Implications of Learning Outcomes in higher Education
- Integration or Disintegration, Exploring the place of adult education in 3rd level art and design colleges.
