David Caron, BSc, MSc, PhD, MIDI
Lecturer, Visual Communication

After receiving a first class honours degree from the National College of Art and Design in 1982, David Caron pursued a Masters Degree in Communications Design at Pratt Institute, New York. Following a period working as an assistant art director in New York he returned to Ireland to take up a lecturing position at Waterford Regional Technical College (now WIT). He subsequently taught for five years at Limerick School of Art and Design before joining the lecturing staff of NCAD's Department of Visual Communication. In addition to graphic design he also has an interest in design history and in 1991 graduated with a Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin (topic: "Michael Healy and An Tur Gloine Stained Glass Studio).

David Caron has contributed essays on graphic design to books and journals such as "Who's Who in Graphic Design" and "Chinese Package Design'. He jointly compiled "The Gazetteer of Irish Stained Glass" and has contributed several articles on stained glass to "The Irish Arts Review".

David Caron has a particular interest in letterpress printing and has produced limited edition prints utlising NCAD's unique collection of 19th and 20th century wooden and metal type.
