Graeme Fisher - Glass

I am using the physical support structure of the pine as a symbol of emotional support against emotional turmoil. The spine is a very strong yet vulnerable part of the body; it carries the weight of the entire top half of the body and contains the pinal cord which carries messages from the brain to the rest of the body, yet one well placed blow could destroy all this forever. The spines are twisted and contorted representing the feeing of being pulled apart and not knowing which way to turn.

The components which make up the pine are taken directly from Styrofoam packaging, which further compounds the idea of support and protection. The element of glass suggests the vulnerability and the unstable look gives the impression of impending disaster.
