Degree Courses
The National College of Art and Design offers undergraduate degree courses in the faculties of Design, Education and Fine Art. Applicants must first successfully complete a recognised First Year Art course (e.g. First Year CORE) before proceeding to specialised studies in the various faculties. The College’s courses are validated by the National University of Ireland. All undergraduate degrees are classified as Level 8 awards under the National Framework of Qualifications criteria.
Entry Requirements and Application Procedures (all courses)
The National College of Art and Design College is seeking students who have a lively intelligence, are strongly motivated in art and design, and whose abilities could best be developed in the atmosphere and facilities of the College. Attendance is full-time.
Introduction
Applicants to the National College of Art and Design must
- be 17 years old by 15 January following entry and
- comply with the appropriate application procedures.
Applications for admission to first year courses are processed through the Central Applications Office (CAO), Tower House, Eglinton Street, Galway (www.cao.ie).
Applicants to CAO course code AD111 must submit a portfolio to NCAD by 3 February 2012.
Applicants to CAO course code AD012 are called for interview.
Applications for all other courses and years of study must be made directly to NCAD.

The decision of the College authorities on all questions arising in connection with entry procedures shall be final.
