General Services
Students at the National College of Art and Design have access to a number of facilities and services which further enhance the quality of student and academic life at the College. First and foremost is the College Library, the premier library for materials relating to Irish art and design. Through the Library's Language Centre students may also avail themselves of a number of self-directed language, conversation and writing courses. Additional services available to students include medical and counselling services, a careers advisory service, a centre for reading, writing & research skills and student exchange programmes.
Student Accommodation
NCAD has no student residences and does not have an accommodation service. Students must find their own accommodation. Students from outside the Dublin area are advised to arrive at least a week in advance of the beginning of term to allow them time to find accommodation. The NCAD Students' Union may be able to assist students in obtaining accommodation and provides a list of hostels.

Students' Union
The representative student body, the National College of Art and Design Students' Union, holds elections annually. Students have representation at Board level and on Academic Council and faculty boards. During the year the Union organises events including concerts, films, balls and other social and sporting activities.
Exchange Programmes and Visiting Students
NCAD participates in a number of exchange programmes, including EU programmes. Students interested in participating in an exchange with NCAD should make a formal application through the relevant office in the college in which they are currently studying. NCAD does not accept "Free Movers". If accommodation is available, NCAD may facilitate a select number of visiting students from art and design colleges abroad who wish to follow a non-award, self-directed programme of study under tutorial guidance. Such applicants should follow the normal application procedure and are welcome to contact the Admissions Office for advice.
Exhibitions
Final year students mount an exhibition selected to show the breadth of their capability, knowledge and achievement. This exhibition is open to the public in June each year. Please check the News & Events section for information on shows.
