Important Notice Regarding Student Grant Scheme
For the 2011/12 Academic Year, the old grants system, which was split into the Higher Education Grant, Third level Training and Maintenance Grant and the VEC Scholarship Grant has been replaced by a single grant which covers all programmes.
Local Authorities (City/County Councils) or VEC's administer the grant and processing of grant applications, depending on what level of programme you intend to study.
You should apply to your Local Authority if you intend to study:
- A Level 8 Qualification (Honours Degree)
- A Level 9 Qualification (Postgraduate study including Graduate Diplomas & Master's Degrees)
- A Level 10 Qualification (Doctoral Degree).
You should apply to your VEC if you intend to study:
- A Level 6 Qualification (Higher Certificate)
- A Level 7 Qualification (Ordinary Degree)
Students should visit http://www.studentfinance.ie to access information about student grants and to complete or download a Student Grant Application Form. Guidance notes on completing the application form are also available for download.
Students are encouraged to complete the application form as soon as possible and please ensure that you submit the correct documentation as failure to do so results in significant delays in processing student grant applications.
Maintenance Grants
All students who are eligible for Maintenance Grants should check the notice board in Reception for details of when their cheques have arrived. A tick will be placed beside the Grant Authorities whose cheques have arrived at NCAD.
Cheques may be collected from Reception at the following times only: 11.00–11.15am 3.00–3.15pm
All queries regarding Maintenance Grants should be directed to: Pauline Delaney, T 01 636 421
